HOW TO APPLY

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION

This year we have changed to an online application process.  If you have technical questions about completing the online forms, please click here for instructions.

To complete the Fellowship application:

  • Download, fill in, and print out the Signature Page.  Have it signed and mail it to the Fellowship office in Seattle by the submission deadline of October 17, 2008. Click here to access the Signature Page (a Word document).
  • Complete the application online and submit it electronically.   Note that you can stop and save your work and make changes to your application at any time until you click “submit” at the end of the process.

Three letters of recommendation are essential and are a required part of all application submissions. Letters of recommendation should address:

  • demonstrated potential for establishing an independent pulmonary research career
  • evidence of originality
  • adequacy of scientific background and evidence of superior performance
  • quality of research publications

The letters, with signatures, should be mailed directly to the Fellowship office. The letters must be sent in sealed envelopes labeled with the applicant’s name and signed by the individual providing the letter across the rear flap. Letters must meet the submission deadline of October 17, 2008.

The candidate's three strongest publication reprints should be submitted electronically as part of the application.
